AND DOGS BUT THEN HE MEETS BUTLER
AND DOGS BUT THEN HE MEETS BUTLER
"He Wants to Run" is David Kleinberg's most current solo theater work -- the story of a guy who hates running and dogs, and how he ended up running with his neighbor's dog for 13 years in Cloverdale and what Butler teaches David about living and dying. Doug Konecky, 16 years a theater critic for his San Francisco Theater Blog, wrote: "Expect the kind of story you can't stop help thinking about afterwards. We love 'He Wants to Run'. You will too! . . . Seriously, this show is good enough to play anywhere in town."

'Hey, hey, lbj!' -- A nation divided
"Hey, Hey, LBJ!" is David Kleinberg's solo theater work on his year as an army combat correspondent in Vietnam, the most divisive foreign war in American history. David arrives supporting the war but things begin to change. In the end, David is in Bangkok partying when his buddies back in Vietnam come under rocket attack.
The Washington Post called "Hey, Hey, LBJ!" as "polished and as moving a piece of theater as the Capital Fringe is likely to see this year (out of 119 shows).” Ex-Rolling Stone chief editor/senior writer Mike Goldberg says, “Fantastic, powerful, must see.” The piece won standing ovations and an encore performance at the Boulder Fringe. "Hey, Hey, LBJ!" also had an 8-show full house run at SF's Marsh Theater in 2015, was performed in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam on the 41st anniversary of the fall of Saigon and in Sydney, Australia in 2016.

'The Voice' -- dealing with sex addiction
David Kleinberg's ground-breaking solo theater work, "The Voice," traced David's journey into sex addiction and recovery. "The Voice" was performed before full houses for eight shows in 2013 at Stagewerx Theater in San Francisco and had another eight-show run that year at the Exit Theater in the city.
Riveting, at times hilarious, always entertaining, the work was ultimately a powerful spiritual journey dealing with one of today’s major social issues. The piece was acclaimed by the gay, therapy and recovery communities and by general audiences. (Photos: John Carman)
